Loïc Hiêu, how do you do?

img_5850If there was a subject matter to blog about, the birth of your first child must be in the top 3. Right up there with flying into the sun and eating at the Bellagio Hotel seafood buffet. Of course, the entire event renders most humans so exhilarated and exhausted all at once that blogging is the last item on the immediate to-do list.

On Saturday, May 9th, 2009 at 8:02 pm, my missus and I were blessed with a 6 lbs. 14 oz, baby. There are so few surprises left in life, and we avoided finding out his gender at each ultra-sound. What a surprise it was! A moderately-brown bouncing  baby boy!

The exceptional staff at the Ottawa General Hospital were our partners for the subsequent 5 days post-birth. Our boy had a brief bout with jaundice, and the nurses and doctors were our saviours, teachers, confidants and friends.

Loïc is home now, healthy and happy. This is a joy that I could not comprehend until his arrival. I have nieces and nephews, I have been the the seafood buffet at the Bellagio. everything pales in comparison, in fact, vibrant colour has flooded our lives. Each precious moment is cherished, I am living in an endless episode of Oprah (the happy shows). This little man has enhanced everything (except sleep). He has amplified the strength of the love that I share with my community of family and friends.

I have never been happier in my life.

Now, if only people can pronounce his name properly.

Dom I am so happy for both of you! He is adorable, and I can’t wait to meet him! And for the record, I can pronounce his name, just not with a hard Parisien accent:)

*hugs to you and the family*

    A.
